Are your email campaigns properly prepared?
|
The world economy is slowing down, budgets are tightening and you are probably looking for an inexpensive and effective strategy to keep your small to medium size business alive.
Email marketing has always been one of the cheapest and most effective ways to stay in touch with your customers; to keep them loyal and to increase repeat sales.
However, email marketing requires a strategy and proper preparation. Not only can an email campaign earn you profit, it is also in direct relation to your company’s reputation.
Here are five things you should consider when planning your email campaign:
An accurate List
In order to ensure results, you need to have an accurate list at all times. A double opt-in list is important because you want to communicate to those who actually want to hear from you. Work on your list by collecting data from all points of contact and allowing sign up from your website. Keep one master list, segmented in various groups of interest. Privacy Policy
Communicate your Privacy Policy concerning the data you reach on your customers at every chance you get: on your website, in your emails and during the sign up process. You must ensure that your customers know you will never sell their names and email addresses. Make sure your company adheres to that.
Unsubscribe
In order to keep a legitimate list and steer clear from being reported, you must always allow users to unsubscribe. An email which doesn’t contain an unsubscribe link or “how to unsubscribe” information is officially called spam! You need to honor a request to unsubscribe as soon as possible.
Subject Line
Although it may seem like a detail, the subject line of your email is in fact very important as it is the first thing customers see. Keeping your subject line real, short, simple and direct is optimal. It is important to give minimal information on the content of the message. Make sure you also have your company name in sight in order to keep your email message legitimate.
Service Providers
Sending out an email campaign using the wrong service provider is like filing your nails with sand paper, which can easily ruin the effort! Make sure you use a service provider with an excellent reputation and with a respectable system structure. Look for a provider who cares about it legitimacy at all times and can deliver you results. This will help you keep a good reputation.
Measure
You must keep in sight what works and what needs improvement. A way of knowing this is to read, analyze and conclude using your email campaign statistics. To learn more, also read: “Measure the success of your email campaign” .
