Email: Secrets to rewarding subject lines!
|
You’ve read and followed the steps of “Are your email campaigns properly prepared?”, you’ve managed to build an accurate and promising “golden list”, your message is written and reviewed, your template was brilliantly designed and your call to action is clear and motivating. Now that the easy part is done, you can start thinking about that often scorned subject line.
Always remember that no matter how great the actual email content, design and call to action is, it is worthless if the email doesn’t get opened. The power of your email is unfortunately in the hands of the subject line, a series of black uniform characters.
Planning its content and disposition may seem like a drab task, but if you want success, plan to give it the respect it deserves.
You know how it goes, everybody is always too busy! So how do you expect anyone to read an email introduced by an insignificant subject line?
Unfortunately, there are no golden rules and magic tricks to writing a rewarding subject line; however, here are a few guidelines.
Keep it short.
Use the right words, in the right order to catch the attention of the recipient. Keep it short; most email programs cut subject lines. Get the message across without making it sound like a cheap marketing trick.
Use your brand name.
Using your website’s or product’s brand name will increase the legitimacy of your email. It is also a reminder of your brand. If customers have a positive memory of your brand, they are more likely to open the email.
Use recipient’s name.
This tip personalizes the email subject line, which will increase your email open rate as most of us like to be addressed personally; it makes us feel special.
Yet the reality is as follows, if you look at your inbox, 20 unread messages in sight, which ones get the honor to be opened first? Remember- give your recipient a reason to open your emails.
